Have you heard the saying "Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it will change the world for one person"? Here's the story of our latest collaboration and how it came to be.
Two years ago when I was visiting Ubud in Bali, I happened to meet a jewellery maker whose work I admired and we immediately struck up a friendship of like minded creative spirits. Recently I found her contact details in my phone. Curious to know about how people in Bali were affected by the pandemic, I messaged my friend and found that, with little or no help available and an economy descimated by the loss of tourist income, the situation is pretty dire. Her main concern was for how she would feed and clothe her family, so we decided to ask her to work with us on a new collection, "Meet The Sea".
The first design has just arrived, a sweet, feminine bracelet, made from freshwater pearls knotted on waxed cord, which has the appearance of leather.
Trivia buff? You may recongnise some of the lyrics from the song Bali Ha'i, from the musical South Pacific have contributed to the name of these pieces & their colour names.
